Baby's 12th month of development
Baby’s 12th month may well see that amazing moment, when he takes his first steps, even though he’ll not be very steady on his feet yet.

He can play wherever he is now and his concentration levels are increasing. He can, while playing with his things, be aware of what is going on around him. His attention span is much higher than before.
A baby, who measured 50cm at birth, finishes his first year measuring between 74 and 77 centimetres.
Baby’s development
- His vocabulary is increasing.
- He understands lots of commands such as “give the toy to Daddy”.
- He plays alone and knows where his toys are.
- He takes his first steps alone.
- If he has good motor coordination, he will be able to stack objects or fit them together.
- He may be starting to provide assistance when being dressed.
- He loves eating with his hands.
Your participation
- Accustom your child to tidy away his toys in the same place (a large box, chest or trunk...).
- Encourage him to feed himself. Give him a spoon and try to forget about the mess!
- Open up areas in the house so he can move around freely – crawling or upright.
- Show him an object and then hide it, then invite him to look for it.
